Collector Eric Lane is offering his lifetime assembled set of early American silver dollars, spanning every date and type, at Heritage's Long Beach auction.
The set includes an important 1794 Flowing Hair silver dollar, the nation's first silver coin. Only about 150 examples of the historic date are known.
A potential finest known 1798 Draped Bust dollar graded MS65 by PCGS leads Lane's silver dollars. One of just 2 in this grade, with none higher.
Also featured is a 15 Stars variety 1798 dollar formerly of the Eric P. Newman collection. It is the 3rd finest of only 6 Mint State examples known.
In addition to Lane's dollars, the auction has a high grade Buffalo nickel set and rare Standing Liberty quarters from the James F. Holloway collection.
An ultra rare 1876 $3 gold proof coin graded PR65 Deep Cameo is another premier auction highlight destined to see intense bidding.
An important rarity from the very first year of quarter eagle production, the 1797 is represented by an About Uncirculated example.
